Zax Barcelona Convention Ctr Unveils Expansion Project Featuring DFI Nano-Coating
San Clemente, Calif., August 23, 2007—Diamon-Fusion International, Inc. (DFI Nanotechnology), recently announced that its flagship patented nano-coating, Diamon-Fusion®, is being applied at the newly expanded and internationally-known Fira de Barcelona, the main convention center complex and emblem of Condal City in Spain. The expansion and renovation project was designed by one of the world's most innovative and influential architects, Toyo Ito, along with his partner B-720 Architects. Known for creating extreme concept buildings, in which he seeks to fuse the physical and virtual worlds, Ito is a leading exponent of architecture that addresses issues of the contemporary 'simulated' city. Carrying on a tradition of more than 100 years, Fira de Barcelona is a powerful platform of activity and economic promotion. The commercial center hosts nearly 80 international trade fairs annually with over 40,000 exhibitors and 3.5 millions visitors. The newly renovated and expanded grounds provide an additional 240,000 square meters of meeting and venue space with an expected completion by 2011.
“The Fira de Barcelona represents design excellence and forward-thinking,” stated Joan Tarrus, Marketing Director of CRICURSA. “This being the first time we’ve worked with Toyo Ito & Associations, it is an honor to be chosen not so much for our solid reputation but rather our wide range of glass architectural solutions and technical expertise. This architectural delight incorporates the most effective nanotechnology in hydrophobic surface treatments with the Cricursa Shield-DFI® system." “To be a part of these ground-breaking designs and influential projects reinforces the quality and true innovation of the DFI nano-coating product line,” stated Guillermo Seta, Executive Director of DFI Global Operations. DFI Nanotechnology multi-functional characteristics include: water and oil repellency (hydrophobic and oleophobic), impact and scratch resistance, protection against graffiti, dirt and stains, finger print protection, UV stability, additional electrical insulation, protection against calcium and sodium deposits and increased brilliance and lubricity. DFI’s nanocoating works at nanoscale levels to change the molecular composition of any silica-based surface. Diamon-Fusion® provides, in chemical terms, a ‘cross-linked’, ‘branched’ and ‘capped’ optically clear nano-film along with a strong and durable covalent bond.
